E "Jerry" McTaggart

 

After dropping out of HS after the 10th grade Jerry enlisted in the Marine Corp. He was discharged after 4 years of honorable service. 
Jerry then worked successfully for 30 years in the credit counseling industry and was President of the National association for several of those years.

Jerry Accepted the Lord as savior in 1983. In 1992 Jerry formed a non profit organization called Christian Credit Counselors.

Working without compensation for most of those years. CCC was able to make the initial grant to enable Catherine's to support the special needs kids of Baha. Jerry retired from CCC in 2006 to devote full time to Catherine's Children's children homes focusing on the special needs of kids in Baha Mexico. 


Lorenzo "Larry" Sohnen  

 

Lorenzo was born in Tucson, Arizona and moved to California when he was 8 years old. He lived most of his life in Los Angeles attending Pierce College in Woodland Hills competing in wrestling with a intent on majoring in physical education. Just before accepting a scholarship to to major univeristy his brother Barry offered him a position with his company and Lorenzo started working for the family business in 1979.  In 1990 an opportunity presented itself for a move to San Diego to open a facility in Tijuana, Mexico.  Lorenzo accepted the challenge and moved to San Diego where he has resided ever since.

His current position is President of Mexican Operations and where he oversees two facilities in Tijuana with over  800 employees.  Lorenzo started the operations from scratch in Mexico so he is very familiar with all the requirements necessary to start a business in that country. Lorenzo is bilingual and has a broad understanding of the U.S and Mexican cultures both in the business and social environments.
He is knowledgeable with the Mexican Fiscal and Labor Laws as it relates to businesses. 

Lorenzo started to feel that God had placed him in Mexico for a special purpose. While he attended Horizon North County Church he went on  his first missions outreach to visit a special needs orphanage in Ensenada called Gabriel House in 2003.  Soon he and his wife Jean were called to lead and coordinate the missions trips for the church to Gabriel House. On one of these trips he met Jerry McTaggart and near the end of 2003 he was asked to join as a member of the board of directors for Gabriel House.  Lorenzo served on the board until November of 2004.  Since then he has joined Catherine’s Children's Home as a board member and Treasurer. 
   

Dave Barth    

 

 

Dave has resided in Carlsbad CA since 1987 with his lovely wife Susan who have three grown children, Bryan, Lindsay and Kevin.
 
Dave attended Bowling Green State University, graduating with a degree in Business Administration and Marketing.
 
Dave is currently employed by Biotix Incorporated as the VP New Business Development. Prior to joining Biotix in 2007, Dave held senior management positions at Cardinal Health, a global healthcare manufacturing and distribution company based in Dublin, OH. These included the positions of President of the Vistant Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of Cardinal Health, President for the distribution business in the Medical Products & Services division, and most recently, Senior Vice President for the Integrated Provider Solutions organization. Prior to Cardinal Health, Dave spent a cumulative 22 years with American Scientific Products, Baxter Diagnostics, and VWR International in senior management positions responsible for all sales, operations and customer service.
 
Dave is currently a member and an Elder at Coastline Church in Carlsbad. While attending Coastline he has served on their Global Outreach/Ministries team and has been actively involved with orphanages and with children with special needs in the US, Mexico and Russia. His passion to be involved with children with special needs all started in 1998 when Dave was part of  a team of supporters and a Board member for the Gabriel House orphanage in Baja Mexico. One of Dave is looking forward in helping to support, direct and get actively involved in the mission/vision of the Catherine Children's Home.  
 
Dave's favorite scriptures is James 2:20 it says:  “Faith Without Works is Dead".

 

 

Marsh Moore   

 

 

Marsh joined Catherine’s Board of Directors in May 2011. Marsh has spent his 30+ years working career in healthcare, and serves as Vice President for a leading orthopedic device manufacturer.  
 
Through his church in Carlsbad, CA, Marsh has been involved with children’s homes in Mexico for several years, beginning with the Gabriel House in Maneadero, Baja California, where he served as Board Chairman from 1999-2001, and most recently with La Vision B Casa Hogar located in Tijuana. 

 With his recent appointment to the Board of Catherine’s, Marsh looks forward to helping expand the reach of Catherine’s through leadership and fund-raising in an effort to support and grow the existing children’s homes and in particular the recent opening of Casa Hogar de Catherine’s, a home for children with special needs.
